Settlement: The day ownership changes hands and the money moves.
Cooling-off period: A set period after a contract is signed during which a buyer may be able to end the contract, usually on payment of a set amount.
Vendor statement: A document from the seller that sets out information about the property, such as title, zoning, rates and any restrictions.
Adjustments: Sharing rates, water and fees fairly between buyer and seller up to settlement.
